Geospatial analytics: show your business data on an interactive map

Argonos Geop (formerly Articque) displays your customers, your buildings or your indicators on a map, next to the population of each municipality. It is the mapping and geospatial decision enabler of the Argonos platform. An AI assistant helps you prepare the data and explore the map.

The need

Why analyse your business data on a map?

In your customer, building or service call files, each row usually carries an address or a municipality. This information lets you compare your figures from one area to another and see where to act first.

  • Where can you find public data ready to combine with your files?

National statistics, business registers, flood maps: each public data source has its own format and its own geographic units. Before combining these data with your files, someone has to collect them, clean them and match them to the right areas.

  • How do you keep your maps and reports up to date?

A map exported as a PDF shows the figures from the day of the export. Each time the data is refreshed, an analyst has to redo the map and the report that goes with it. Recipients can neither zoom in on their own area nor switch indicators.

  • Spot a fall in results across a whole local area

A spreadsheet sorts municipalities by name or by value. Neighbouring municipalities can end up hundreds of rows apart. A fall that affects several nearby areas becomes visible as soon as the figures are placed on a map.

Definition

What is geospatial analytics?

Geospatial analytics is decision support based on where data is located. It places an organisation’s location data on a map, next to public geospatial data such as population or businesses. Spatial analysis adds calculations, such as travel times, and simulations that bring out patterns and trends hidden in tables. Vendors also use the terms spatial analytics and location intelligence. Using a customer or building file to decide where to act is also called data valorisation. Geomarketing and sales territory management are 2 of its applications. With AI-enhanced geospatial analytics software such as Argonos Geop, business teams run these analyses without writing code. Its AI automatically picks out high-potential areas and gaps in results.

5 uses of geospatial analytics with Argonos Geop

  • Enrich your files with ready-to-use public data

The Argonos Geop DataMarket brings together external databases already formatted for analysis. For France, it holds more than 800 indicators from INSEE, the national statistics institute. They are available from municipality level down to 200-metre grid squares. Companies listed in the Sirene register complete the set. You choose the indicators you need and attach them to your files to enrich your internal data.

  • Calculate your penetration rate area by area

The penetration rate compares your number of customers with the population of a municipality or a neighbourhood. On a map, it shows where your customer base is already strong and where it remains weak. You can also describe the profile of the neighbourhoods where your customers live: age, income, type of housing. This profile helps you know your customers by location.

  • Publish an interactive observatory on your website or intranet

An observatory brings together the indicators of a territory, such as population, housing or employment. With Argonos Geop interactive atlases, a URL is all you need to embed it in a web page. Elected officials, staff and residents move from region to municipality, then click an area to read its profile. Each data update feeds through to the atlas, which makes a territorial observatory easier to run.

  • Track the occupancy of each building in your portfolio on a map

On a map, each building appears with the average age of its occupants or their length of occupancy. For France, the DataMarket property database adds the most common energy performance rating (DPE) in each neighbourhood and property prices. Social landlords and local authorities can then manage their property portfolio by office, by area or by building.

  • Find your sites and insured properties located in flood zones

For France, the DataMarket environment database includes the flood zones published by Géorisques, the government risk portal. They include a scenario that factors in climate change. It also gives, for each municipality, the cost and frequency of claims linked to natural disasters. You overlay these zones on your addresses to list the exposed buildings and assess the climate risks they face.

Information system

Does Argonos Geop fit into your information system?

the rise and risk of mcp servers

Argonos Geop connects to SQL Server, MySQL and PostgreSQL databases, as well as to Salesforce and Coheris CRM. It also imports your Excel and CSV files, and spatial data in GeoJSON or Shapefile format. The data stays synchronised with your tools, and the maps update with it.

Features

Argonos Geop analysis tools for data and research analysts

  • Build an analysis module by module in the flowchart

The flowchart is the design space of Argonos Geop. You connect base map, data, calculation and display modules there. The map is drawn alongside and changes as soon as you modify a parameter. You can test several hypotheses in a few minutes.

  • Extend a regional analysis to the whole country

An analysis model can be reused as many times as needed. You load the new data, and both the map and the report update. One click applies the same model to the whole country. You then share it with your colleagues.

  • Map commuting and goods flows

The Flows module uses an origin-destination file, such as place of residence and place of work. It draws arrows whose thickness or colour varies with volume. Deliveries between warehouses and stores are shown in the same way.

  • Group municipalities or customers into typical profiles

Hierarchical cluster analysis forms groups of municipalities, neighbourhoods or customers that resemble each other on several criteria. Principal component analysis (PCA) brings out the criteria that weigh most in these similarities. Each typical profile then appears on a map in its own colour.

Industries

Geospatial analytics applied to your sector

The problem

Customer complaints arrive in several Excel files, sometimes hundreds of thousands of rows long. They have to be consolidated, then read line by line. Management struggles to see which sites to deal with first.

With Argonos Geop

Locate customer complaints down to the store or branch

Each complaint appears on a map, from national level down to the site concerned. The same model is broken down by reason for complaint and brings out the reasons on the rise. You focus your action plans on the sites where complaints build up.

FAQ

Questions about geospatial analytics and Argonos Geop

The difference between geospatial analytics and geomarketing lies in their scope. Geomarketing applies map-based analysis to commercial decisions: site selection, catchment areas, sales territories. Geospatial analytics also covers other location decisions, in the public sector, real estate or risk management. In both cases, the analysis combines decision support tools with geographic information systems (GIS). Argonos Geop handles both with the same data, without GIS expertise.
